The update of the Xbox 360 fighting piracy

Yesterday Microsoft released a new update of the Xbox 360 the purpose of which, apparently, was only re-introduce a feature removed by update concerning Kinect autumn: it was in itself very strange, because usually the company has always regroup features and fixes in the full-bodied seasonal releases, rather than make small updates aimed at individual features. We now come reports from the States that the update may also be a Trojan horse to combat piracy on certain titles.

In fact, several people reported that pirated copies of games like Halo: Reach, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Black Ops, and no longer work after the update: the site dedicated to modding Xbox-Scene scene suggests that it might be linked to type of drive upright on consoles and that this could also lead to a new wave of bans from Xbox Live.
