Microsoft repeats: Xbox 360 does not need the Blu-ray

Already in the past several Microsoft executives have said that the company is not interested in the adoption of a Blu-ray drive for its console, but these days the controversy was rekindled after the latest statements of Jun Takeuchi, producer of Lost Planet 2, who said he had to remove content from the game because of the limited capacity of the DVD format. Ready was Microsoft's response, arguing that its console has absolutely need a Blu-ray, thanks to the ability to stream movies in HD with the highest resolution.

"We have no intention to implement a Blu-Ray on Xbox 360" - said Stephen McGill, director of Xbox and Entertainment - "For the future of home entertainment began last fall, when the Xbox 360 has become the first and only console capable of playing streaming flash movies in HD with a resolution of 1080p.

McGill's comment sounds a bit 'out of place given that he speaks of movies in HD Takeuchi while criticizing the capacity of DVD media for games, it appears established that at least for this generation, Redmond is not going to support the format rival.
